Job summary

Peel Brow Primary School is seeking a dedicated Special Support Assistant to support children with SEND within the SEN Unit. You will work alongside SEN Unit teachers to tailor activities and ensure learning is engaging and accessible for all learners.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, including those with Special Educational Needs.
• Commitment to our school ethos and inclusive practice.
• Ability to work constructively with teachers and SENCO.
• Strong time management and supporting pupil learning.

Responsibilities

• Work with children in the SEN Unit.
• Assist the teacher to prepare classrooms for lessons and activities.
• Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by teaching staff.
• Supervise pupils’ work and provide support where necessary.
• Provide administrative support to teaching staff and other TAs regarding lesson resources.
• Monitor pupils' needs and behaviour and report to staff.
• Maintain pupil records as requested and log safeguarding concerns.
• Assist with displays and parent communication.
• Be a positive role model and proactively manage pupil behaviour.
