Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking SEND Specialist Tutors to work with students in Jarrow. Roles may be based in the student’s home or a community learning hub, with hours ranging from 6 to 15 per week per pupil.

Start date ASAP, contract/temporary arrangement, and pay up to £30 per hour (negotiable). We require UK classroom teaching experience and a qualification related to children/education, plus experience with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours.

SEND Specialist Tutor - Jarrow

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Jarrow area.

The Opportunity

The tuition is replacing school for these young people and each individual is commissioned for a certain amount of hours, taking place during school hours, five days a week. Prospero will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports. We can accommodate both part time and full time hours.

Contract/Position Details:

• Location - Various locations across Jarrow
• Position - SEND Specialist Tutor
• Type of work - Contract

• Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
• Duration - Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
• Contract type - Temporary
• Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
• Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)

Your role with us:

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, teaching life skills, how to safely access the community, simple cooking and fostering independence
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

• Children related/Education qualification
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours

To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application

• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
