Job summary

Rainham School for Girls is seeking an enthusiastic Advanced Level Teaching Assistant to join our SEN department within TKAT. The role focuses on supporting students with additional learning needs and assisting in delivering targeted class work.

The post is part-time and permanent, offering NJC scale 5 pay (£29,542–£32,578; pro rata £20,340–£22,431). The successful candidate will work across a caring, collaborative team and contribute to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of the needs of the SEN department and the changing needs of the students with AEN.
  • Confidence to be with a class and act as the main support within that class following cover work and assisting where able.
  • Evidence of qualifications in level 3 or above in a specific subject is desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or equally independently.
  • Must have proven ability to work with small groups of SEN students in a particular subject area.
  • High degree of confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with students and their parents.
  • To have a real engagement with the subject area and SEN students.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • To undertake First Aid training and carry out initial first aid duties on a rota basis

Responsibilities

  • Provide main class support within the SEN department and assist with cover work as required.
  • Support SEN students in small groups and adapt approaches to individual needs.
  • Promote safeguarding, confidentiality, and inclusive practices in line with TKAT policies.
