Job summary

Our Lady of Sion School, Worthing seeks a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND Team, focusing on highly personalised provision for pupils with EHCPs. You will work under the SENCO to monitor strategies and support staff.

You will observe pupil needs, adapt resources, and contribute to planning and review meetings to promote progress, independence and inclusive education within the school.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Learning Support or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in schools supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Sound understanding of SEND Code of Practice (2015) and EHCPs.
• Knowledge of autism, sensory processing, emotional regulation and positive behaviour support.
• Safeguarding and inclusive practices knowledge.
• Ability to implement a detailed provision map independently.
• Ability to adapt learning resources and environments to meet individual needs.
• Highly organised diary management and accurate records.
• Able to contribute observations to planning meetings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist observations and guidance to teaching staff.
• Implement and monitor highly personalised EHCP provisions.
• Support pupil in Junior School with specialist SEN needs.
• Collaborate with SENCO and class teacher to ensure consistency.
• Promote progress, independence, wellbeing and inclusion.
