Hays Recruitment is proud to support a local Bristol primary school in recruiting a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support pupils with SEN within their resource provision. This is a long-term, full-time role.
Role Overview: As a teaching assistant, you will support pupils with SEN within the KS1 and KS2 resource bases, including ASD, Global delay, ADHD, and non-verbal pupils. You will work under the instruction of the class teacher to create a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment, utilizing various learning equipment and managing behaviours effectively. You will implement positive behaviour techniques, including reward charts and reinforcement strategies. In escalation situations, you will ensure safety by using sensory rooms or removing pupils from triggering environments. You will also offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and liaise with teachers to align with attainment needs.
Requirements: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and recent experience supporting children and young people with complex and profound needs. Experience conducting intervention and booster sessions in core subjects like phonics, reading, and spelling is essential. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
