SEN Primary Teaching Assistant

Position: Long Term, Full time (at least an academic year)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Havering

We are seeking a capable and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support children’s learning in our Year 3 classroom. The role involves providing 1:1 and small group support for children with a range of additional needs, and collaborating with teachers to plan for the individual needs of our SEN pupils.

Requirements include a good standard of English and Math, and effective communication skills with both adults and children. You should be proactive and ready to embrace new challenges, working with groups and individuals.

Experience:
  • Experience working with or caring for children with special educational needs in a primary school setting
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
  • Ability to plan teaching and learning sequences to meet pupils' individual needs
  • Understanding of child development
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Organizational skills and initiative
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice, and legislation
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies
Qualifications:
  • Degree or NVQ 2 in teaching assistance or equivalent qualifications/experience
