Are you an experienced SEN/ASD Teaching Assistant with a passion to make a difference to children who have ASD?


TLTP are looking for an experienced SEN/ASD Teaching Assistant for an Outstanding SEN School based in North London. The school is committed to the development and delivery of high-quality relationships with families and local community organisations to ensure that the children attending the school achieve their full potential and become respected and active members of the local community.


The Position will include:
  1. Working with secondary students with ASD
  2. Working with children with ASD, ADHD, bright and very capable
  3. Providing personal care to students when/if needed
  4. Using visual aids to communicate with Students
  5. One to one or small groups

Requirements:
  1. Available to start ASAP
  2. Experience of working with Children or Care background

This special needs teaching assistant role will be supporting secondary children with Autism and complex needs.


Special needs teaching assistants will need:
  1. Excellent behaviour management skills
  2. Ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff
  3. Good knowledge/experience working with children with ASD/complex needs within a special needs environment
  4. Experience working with secondary aged pupils
  5. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum
  6. Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs
  7. Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists
  8. Work closely with parents and guardians
  9. Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings, or sporting events
  10. Assist in severely disabled pupils' personal care/medical needs
  11. Administration, including updating and maintaining records of pupils' progress
  12. Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, regarding students with SEN, which may involve reviewing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans
  13. Receive in-service training
  14. Behaviour management
