Job summary

Quokka Education is seeking Learning Support Assistants to support pupils in SEND and mainstream schools across Basingstoke and surrounding areas. You’ll work 1:1 and in small groups to help students build confidence and manage emotions, collaborating with teachers and SEND teams.

No prior school experience is required; the priority is being calm, caring, patient and non-judgemental to establish positive relationships with young people.

Qualifications

• Calm, patient, caring and non-judgemental, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Two professional references are required.
• An Enhanced DBS check (Update Service) is preferred for immediate start.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils manage emotions and build confidence
• Recognising behavioural triggers and responding calmly
• Encouraging independence and engagement in learning
• Working alongside teachers and SEND teams
