GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work in a welcoming school in Colchester. This full-time role is ideal for someone committed to supporting students with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges.

Role Overview

You will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies, provide 1:1 or small group support, and help create an inclusive classroom environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
• Assist in delivering differentiated lesson content as directed by the class teacher.
• Help manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency.
• Promote the social and emotional well-being of pupils.
• Support students in developing confidence, independence, and learning skills.
• Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working with children with special educational needs (in school or similar settings).
• A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or SEN (desirable but not essential).
• Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
