Job summary

Simply Education are partnering with a school in Surrey to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant. You will support primary-aged pupils with communication difficulties linked to ASC, helping them access learning and develop skills in a nurturing environment.

The role is permanent, full-time, term-time only, offering a salary of £24,139 to £25,819 with a £1,000 welcome bonus. We value patient, resilient individuals who can build strong relationships with pupils, families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and related communication needs.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, engaged and ready to learn.
  • Supporting pupils with communication difficulties linked to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to access learning and develop independence.
  • Assisting the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.
  • Delivering targeted support to individuals and small groups.
  • Encouraging the development of communication, social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Supporting pupils through challenging situations using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Promoting pupils' personal, social, emotional and academic development.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Adapting to the changing needs of the school and pupils throughout the day.
  • Supporting with physical intervention when required (full training provided).
