Job summary

An education organization is seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide essential support to children with learning and communication needs. This role will involve planning and delivering engaging sessions, collaborating with a dedicated team, and offering emotional and behavioral support. Ideal candidates should have at least one year of experience in educational settings and familiarity with communication strategies like PECS and Makaton. A pay range of £25–£35 per hour is offered, along with travel subsidies and support services.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a teacher, tutor, or SEN specialist.
• Background in Early Years, Primary, Secondary, or specialist SEND environments.
• Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to children in their homes or other settings.
• Plan and deliver learning and engagement activities.
• Engage with students with complex needs and help them achieve outcomes.

Skills

Experience supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs

De-escalation and behaviour management skills

Familiarity with PECS

Familiarity with Makaton
