GSL Education is supporting an SEND school in Exeter that is seeking a SEN Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis.

The school offers a personalized, wrap-around education for students with complex needs or EHCP pupils at risk of residential placements. Each child receives high levels of support, often including one-to-one mentoring and bespoke timetables based on thematic learning experiences designed to engage students, build resilience, and promote academic progress.

Roles are across multiple settings, working with students in KS3-4. The children may present challenging behaviors, so resilience and commitment are essential.

This role requires a clean UK driving license and own car, as the successful candidate must be willing to use their vehicle for work purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Guide students as a Learning Mentor, providing personalized support and guidance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop support plans.
  • Create a nurturing environment to improve social interactions and communication skills.
  • Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and implement interventions to address behavior challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Available ASAP on a full-time basis.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Dedication to student success.
Why Choose GSL Education?
  • Support from a respected, independent recruitment agency across the UK.
  • Competitive pay rates.
  • Personalized service with dedicated consultants.
  • Flexible work-life balance.
  • High standards of quality and safeguarding.

If you are qualified and dedicated to contributing to inclusive education, please apply and submit your CV. To work with GSL Education, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

We offer competitive pay, bespoke support, and guidance to help you secure your ideal role. We have helped many candidates gain experience and training to become support staff, teachers, psychologists, and senior leaders. Note: this role requires knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, or willingness to undertake training, along with all necessary background checks including an enhanced DBS.
