Job summary

GSL Education is looking for a passionate SEN Intervention Teacher to support secondary-aged pupils with Special Needs in Surrey. Role: SEN Intervention Teacher
Location: Surrey
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 2:00pm (Flexible)
Salary: £145 to £230 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term and ongoing
Age Group: 11–16 years (class sizes 8–10 pupils with TA support)

Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher looking to make a real difference? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Intervention Teacher to deliver targeted support in Maths and English at Functional Skills level to secondary-aged pupils in Surrey.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a specialist provision that supports young people with a range of needs including SEMH, ADHD, and ASC, who require tailored learning outside of mainstream education. You’ll be playing a key leadership role in creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver functional Maths and English lessons that are accessible and engaging.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group intervention for students with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to support individual learning needs.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment to foster student confidence and academic development.
  • Adapt lessons to suit varying needs, using innovative teaching strategies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with pastoral staff and SENCO regarding progress.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience working in an SEN or SEMH setting is highly desirable.
  • Ability to teach Functional Skills English and Maths.
  • Strong knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
