Job summary

The College seeks a SEN Team Leader to manage and coordinate Learning Mentors at a designated site, helping develop support for students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, including EHCP learners and other inclusion needs.

You will communicate with external agencies and internal staff, supervise staff, maintain records on progress, retention and achievement, and mentor students outside the classroom/workshop. Participation in EHCP reviews is expected.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent
• An appropriate Level 3 professional qualification
• Working knowledge of IT and standard software
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Experience supporting students in an educational environment
• Awareness of needs of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
• Experience supervising a team
• Engage in Team Teach Training (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Manage the team of Learning Mentors at designated centres and support recruitment, probation, and performance reviews.
• Communicate students’ educational needs to lecturers and Personal Learning Advisers and update eILP and at-risk registers.
• Support admissions events to inform prospective students and parents.
• Liaise with Head of Inclusion and Learning Support and Specialist Tutors on support issues.
• Mentor students outside classroom/workshop.
• Ensure learning support meets EHCP educational requirements; complete EHCP processes.
• Attend EHCP reviews and contribute as required.
• Hold regular team meetings with centre-based learning mentors.
• Specialise in one area of learning difficulty/disability and raise awareness.
• Contribute to LM training on local and national inclusive education initiatives.
• Develop support groups and lunchtime clubs for students with similar needs.
