Job summary

A leading school in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated SEN HLTA to provide personalized support for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). This role involves working closely with educators and families to enhance the educational experience of students with complex needs. SEN HLTA (PMLD) – Secondary School

Location: Chelmsford

Start Date: ASAP

Setting: Secondary School

Daily Rate: £130–£200 (depending on experience)

About the Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD and other complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care, physical support, and tailored learning activities.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and families to implement EHCP targets.
  • Use communication methods like Makaton, PECS, sensory strategies.
  • Proven experience with children or young people with PMLD/SEND.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Calm, empathetic, patient, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with personal care and physical assistance.
  • Support teaching and learning within a secondary setting as part of a team.
