Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver practical, engaging, and adapted Food Technology lessons to pupils across primary or secondary age groups with needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

• Focus on teaching fundamental culinary skills, kitchen safety, nutrition, independent living skills, and hygiene at an accessible, step-by-step pace.

• Create a calm, structured, and sensory-aware classroom/kitchen environment using clear visual instructions and positive behaviour management strategies.

• Adapt recipes and tasks to suit individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and varying fine-motor or cognitive abilities.

• Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to ensure all practical activities are conducted safely and inclusively.

• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and track student progress against personalised learning goals, participating in EHCP reviews where required.

What We Look For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification (Unqualified Teachers/Instructors with extensive SEN Food Tech experience are also welcome to apply).

• Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology, Home Economics, or Hospitality and Catering.

• Proven patience, resilience, and a creative approach to adapting practical lessons for diverse SEN profiles.

• Excellent awareness of health and safety, food hygiene, and risk management in a practical learning environment.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
