Job description

SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant

Do you have the patience, empathy, and commitment to support a young child with additional needs?

*** Academic Year – September 2025 to July 2026
*** £81–£101 per day
*** Primary school based in Central Wolverhampton
*** 1:1 SEN support to a child with Down Syndrome
*** Meaningful, rewarding role for someone passionate about early years and inclusion

You’ll work 1:1 with a Reception-aged child with Down Syndrome, supporting them throughout the school day. Your focus will be on helping them access learning, build communication skills, and feel safe and supported in class. You’ll follow the child’s EHCP, work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and adapt activities to meet their needs. You’ll also support with transitions, routines, and positive behaviour.

You’ve got experience working with children—ideally in a school or nursery—and some understanding of SEN. You’re calm, consistent, and nurturing, with a genuine interest in early years education. Any background in speech and language support, Makaton, or working with children with developmental delays is a plus. You’re reliable, proactive, and ready to commit for the full academic year.

This is a warm, inclusive primary school in the heart of Wolverhampton with a strong pastoral focus. The early years team is experienced and collaborative, and the school is committed to giving every child the best possible start. Staff are supported with regular training and strong leadership from an approachable SENCO and Headteacher.

Due to the number of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted.
