SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant

Do you have the patience, empathy, and commitment to support a young child with additional needs?

Contract Details:

  1. Academic Year – September 2025 to July 2026
  2. £81–£101 per day
  3. Primary school based in Central Wolverhampton
  4. 1:1 SEN support to a child with Down Syndrome
  5. Meaningful, rewarding role for someone passionate about early years and inclusion

Role Description:

You will work 1:1 with a Reception-aged child with Down Syndrome, supporting them throughout the school day. Your responsibilities include helping the child access learning, building communication skills, and ensuring they feel safe and supported in class. You will follow the child's EHCP, collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and adapt activities to meet their individual needs. Additionally, you will support transitions, routines, and promote positive behaviour.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a school or nursery setting
  • Some understanding of SEN
  • Calm, consistent, and nurturing demeanor
  • Genuine interest in early years education
  • Background in speech and language support, Makaton, or working with children with developmental delays is advantageous
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed for the full academic year
