TeacherActive is recruiting in Gateshead for a SEN English Teacher with an ICT specialism to deliver engaging English and ICT lessons to pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis.

The role is temporary, four days per week (9:30am to 4:00pm) with potential for permanency. A nurturing SEND school environment supports pupils to overcome barriers and achieve personal potential.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS with English specialism; ECTs welcome.
• Experience teaching English and ICT in secondary/SEND settings.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND; strong classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging English and ICT lessons 1:1 for pupils with SEND.

The school is looking to appoint a SEN English Teacher with an ICT specialism on a long-term basis, with the potential for the role to become permanent. Working four days per week (9:30am to 4:00pm), the successful SEN English Teacher will provide dedicated 1:1 support, delivering engaging English and ICT lessons to pupils with a range of SEND needs who are working below age-related expectations, adapting learning to meet individual abilities and promoting both academic and personal progress.

The successful SEN English Teacher will have:

• QTS or QTLS with an English specialism (ECTs are welcome to apply)
• Experience teaching English and ICT within a secondary or SEND setting
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills with the ability to build positive relationships on a 1:1 basis
• A patient, adaptable and compassionate approach to teaching
• A commitment to raising achievement and promoting confidence in learners
