Fresh Start in Education Ltd is seeking a SEN Education and Engagement Specialist to deliver 1:1 learning programmes for a young person with profound and multiple learning difficulties in the Dorchester area. For some young people with SEN and complex needs, a personalised 1:1 learning programme, rather than a school environment, can be the key to helping them develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to grow and thrive.

Fresh Start in Education are looking for an experienced and person-centred Education Specialist to work on a 1:1 basis with a young man with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties in Dorset. This role involves planning and delivering creative, engaging and sensory-based sessions to support life skills, communication and emotional regulation.

With allowances for travel and resources and full support from our dedicated team, in this flexible role you'll enable a young person to discover the joy of learning. One learner, one relationship, one small step at a time.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing 1:1 support to a young person in their home or community in the Dorchester area
• Planning and delivering learning and engagement opportunities that reflect the learner’s needs, interests and abilities
• Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
• Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills

Who we're looking for:

We welcome applications from people who have:

• Experience (at least 1 year) as SEN specialists, teachers, teaching assistants, tutors and support workers who have directly supported young people with SEN and complex needs
• Experience supporting young people who are Post 16, but working lower than age-related expectations (equivalent of EYFS level)
• Experience supporting young people with multiple or complex SEN, including ASD, SLD, challenging behaviours, physical and medical needs
• A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
• An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection

Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies along with de-escalation and behaviour management training is an advantage.
