Job summary

St Anne’s School, part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is seeking a compassionate class teacher to support pupils with complex needs, including SLD and Autism. This full-time, fixed-term post (maternity cover) is 32.5 hours per week, based at Hessle, with interviews Week commencing 19 October and a contract from 4 January 2027 to 23 July 2027.

You will plan, deliver and assess highly differentiated lessons in a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with complex needs, including SLD.
• Ability to plan, deliver and assess differentiated lessons.
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration with staff, parents and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Have experience and an understanding of working with pupils with complex and Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism.
• Plan, deliver and assess highly differentiated and engaging lessons which are outstanding and in line with the Teaching Standards.
• Be able to foster a positive, inclusive classroom where every pupil is valued and supported.
• Have knowledge of different curriculums.
• Be confident in leading and working collaboratively with a team of Learning Support Assistants and liaising with professionals.
• Be skilled in managing behaviour which may challenge.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills
• Be committed to working in partnership with staff, parents and carers and the local community to promote outstanding learning opportunities for all
• Have effective ICT skills
• Demonstrate experience of working in partnership with colleagues, parents, governors and multi-disciplinary agencies.
• Promote communication, emotional wellbeing and independence in every aspect of pupils’ learning.
• Embrace creative approaches to teaching and learning that celebrate achievement and inclusivity.
