We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionateSEN Teacherto join a thriving and inclusive school based in Bromley. This is a full time and permanent position, starting in September 2025.

We are looking for an experienced SEN Class Teacher, who has experience in either a mainstream or SEN provision. You will be supporting children of Primary & Secondary age. You will be supporting children with ASD, SLD and MLD.

You will be joining a collaborative team of experienced teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff, all working towards the shared goal of improving outcomes for students with ASD.

Key Responsibilities:

As the SEN Teacher, your role will involve planning, delivering, and adapting lessons that meet the individual needs of children with Autism, MLD and SLD. This includes creating differentiated learning activities and providing sensory supports to ensure engagement and participation. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)in collaboration with the SENCO and support staff
  • Monitoring student progressthrough regular assessments and adjusting teaching methods to suit evolving needs
  • Providingdirect supportto children, fostering their independence and self-confidence
  • Supporting the development ofsocial, communication, and life skillsthrough structured activities and targeted interventions
  • Working closely with parents and caregivers, providing updates on progress and ensuring a strong home-school partnership
  • Leading by example to maintain a positive, calm, and structured classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Ensuring thewell-beingandsafeguardingof all students, addressing any behavioural or emotional challenges in a constructive manner

Requirements:

We are looking for a highly motivated, empathetic and experienced individual who has the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children with Autism or other complex special educational needs
  • A strong understanding of how Autism affects learning, along with the ability to adapt your teaching methods accordingly
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and families
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse group of students and work collaboratively within a team
  • A commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Ideally, experience in usingcommunication aids, sensory tools, or other ASD-specific strategies
