Our SEN Care Support Workers play a pivotal role in supporting our students in their daily lives. Prior experience is not essential, as we offer comprehensive training and development opportunities, along with a clear career progression path. Salary: £13.02 per hour (weekdays) and £14.52 per hour (from 16.30 on Friday to Sunday). Enhanced overtime rates.

Weeks: 52 weeks per year.

Annual Leave: 5 weeks, plus 10 bank holiday days.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team providing care and learning support, encouraging students to develop independence and living skills, focusing on quality of life.

Some students may have severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities, physical, or sensory needs, requiring sensitive and professional care in line with our policies.

Job responsibilities

• Meet care support needs as per individual care plans, including personal care, moving and handling, clinical needs, and medication administration after training.
• Support students' learning needs as directed by education staff.
• Ensure compliance with policies on safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
• Perform clinical tasks after competency assessment, following infection control policies.
• Maintain detailed records of care, support, and progress.
• Advocate for students and participate in meetings to support their views.
• Assist students per their care plans and work collaboratively across departments to meet individual outcomes.
• Support in organizing leisure activities and report concerns affecting welfare or safety.
• Contribute to a professional environment aligned with our values.
• Participate in training, meetings, and additional duties necessary for service quality.
• Assist in assessment processes and act as a student mentor when required.
• Engage in reflective practice and work within RRN standards.
• Support students in building confidence and independence, and work within medication and mental capacity policies.

• Recent experience working with young adults, especially those with ASD or behavioral difficulties, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work towards Care Certificate within 6 months.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Level 2 Diploma in Health and Safety or willingness to complete within 2 years.
• Intervener training preferred.

Experience

• Respect for students' rights and understanding of disabilities.
• Experience in care work, promoting dignity and respect.
• Knowledge of health and safety issues related to care work.
