Job summary

Merstone School is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant with SEN and/ or ASD experience to support pupils' education, care and medical needs. Full training will be given to support pupils with medical care needs, and some healthcare experience is desirable.

The school cares for pupils aged 2-19 with Severe & Complex Learning Disabilities and has an outstanding Ofsted history. Applicants should have Level 2 childcare qualification and GCSEs, with a focus on building positive

Qualifications

• NNEB/NVQ2/BTEC Level 2 childcare qualification required.
• GCSE Maths & English or Reading & Writing Skills and Numeracy NVQ Level 2 required.
• Ability to work positively with parents, school nurses and other professionals to improve pupil support.
• SEN/ASD experience and positive behaviour management desirable.
• Recent experience of working with children in a learning environment desirable.
• Medical care experience desirable.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' education, care and medical needs.
• Work with school nurses and other professionals to enhance pupil support.
• Assist staff in planning and delivering individualised learning plans.
