Merstone School in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEN and ASD in a dynamic learning environment. You will assist with education, care and medical needs, with full training provided for medical support.

Essential qualifications include Level 3 childcare (NNEB/NVQ3/BTEC) and GCSEs in Maths and English; NVQ2 in Numeracy/Reading & Writing is also desirable. Experience with SEN/ASD and positive behaviour management is preferred.

Formación

• Essential Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB/NVQ3/BTEC or equivalent).
• GCSE Maths and English passes or Reading/Writing and Numeracy at Level 2.
• Ability to work with parents, school nurses and other professionals.
• SEN/ASD experience and positive behaviour management desirable.

Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant with SEN and/ or ASD experience. The role will involve supporting pupils' education, care and medical needs. Full training will be given to support pupils with medical care needs, but some healthcare or medical care experience would be desirable.

Merstone School is:

• for pupils with Severe & Complex Learning Disabilities, aged 2-19 years
• an outstanding school (Ofsted 2011, 2014, 2017 & 2023) andgraded Strong Standard (March 2026)

Essential/ Desirable:

• NNEB/ NVQ 3/ BTEC or other relevant Level 3 childcare qualification essential
• GCSE Maths & English Pass or Reading & Writing Skills and Numeracy Skills NVQ Level 2 essential
• Ability to work positively with parents, school nurses and other professionals to improve the support for pupils essential
• SEN experience, ASD experience and positive behaviour management expertise desirable
• Recent experience of working with children in a learning environment desirable
• Medical care experience desirable
• Basic knowledge of First Aid desirable
