Job summary

VANRATH is seeking a professional to join its Internal Audit team in Belfast. You will support client projects across planning, fieldwork, and reporting stages, helping develop Internal Control and SOX programs while delivering high-quality management reports.

With a relevant degree and 2+ years of field experience in audit or controls, you will contribute to client advisory and work within a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Experience in Internal Audit, SOX, and control environments.
• Degree in a relevant field is required.
• Part-qualified or fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIIA or equivalent with 2+ years field experience.
• Strong business acumen and client advisory ability.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of client projects including internal audit and controls engagements.
• Assist clients in developing or enhancing Internal Control or SOX programs.
• Prepare planning and reporting documents for management review and delivery.
• Present engagement results to senior team members and directors.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to practice development.

The Internal Audit team operates with a cross-office, collaborative approach, with approximately 70 professionals across Ireland and Northern Ireland, including around 10 team members based in Belfast. They support a diverse client base, evenly split between public and private sectors (non-financial services). Due to growth there is an opportunity to join this successful team.

What you will do:

• Support the delivery of client projects, including internal audit, controls advisory, and assurance engagements, covering planning, fieldwork, and reporting stages.
• Work within a team to assist clients in developing or enhancing their Internal Control or SOX programs.
• Prepare high-quality planning and reporting documents for management review and client delivery.
• Present engagement results to senior team members, including Senior Consultants, Managers, and Directors.
• Enhance your own and the team's technical expertise by coaching, mentoring, and leading junior team members during engagements.
• Participate in business and practice development tasks, including tender responses and client proposals.

About You:

• Proven experience in Internal Audit, SOX, and Control environments.
• Relevant degree required.
• Part-qualified or fully qualified in ACA, ACCA, CIIA, or equivalent, with a minimum of two years' field experience.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to provide effective client advisory.
• Experience working within high-performing teams and presenting findings to management.
• Proficiency in report writing, along with technical knowledge of industry standards, such as Internal Audit methodologies and SOX.
