Qualifications

  • AAT Level 4 qualification or nearing completion is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of monthly accounts, payroll, and VAT returns.
  • Support preparation of management accounts as required by clients.
  • Assist with bookkeeping and client financial record keeping.

Education

Semi-Senior Accountant - Growing accounting firm

Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be partnering with a reputable and expanding accountancy firm based in Northamptonshire, in their search for a Semi-Senior Accountant to support the Director with a portfolio of clients who receive outsourced accounting services.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual seeking to progress their accounting career. You will work as part of a growing and collaborative team, ensuring clients receive a high level of service while developing your own technical and professional skills within practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly accounts, payroll, and VAT returns for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts and other ad hoc reports as required by clients.
  • Assist with bookkeeping and client financial record keeping, increasingly through cloud-based software.
  • Provide administrative support and help ensure the smooth running of client workflows.
  • Visit clients on-site as required.
  • With training, assist in preparing year-end working papers and accounts from client records.
  • Contribute to providing excellent client service and timely completion of work.
Key Requirements
  • Experience in an accountancy practice environment.
  • AAT Level 4 qualified or near completion (ACCA/CIMA part-qualified also welcome).
  • Competent using accounting packages such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Google Suite skills.
  • An interest or background in the agricultural/rural or sustainability sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong academic background (minimum B grade or equivalent in Maths and English).
  • Organised, proactive, and eager to grow in a client-facing accounting role.
