Job summary

Butler Rose in West Yorkshire is seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to manage a small client portfolio and assist senior staff with accounts preparation in a growing department.

The role requires 3+ years' UK practice experience and strong accounts production skills, with familiarity in cloud bookkeeping systems such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. Travel for records collection may be necessary.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in a UK-based, qualified accounting firm.
• Strong accounts preparation ability across sole traders, Ltds and partnerships.
• Experience with cloud bookkeeping software, preferably Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a small portfolio of clients and processing information via cloud accounting software.
• Liaising with clients by phone and email.
• Submission of VAT returns.
• Assist with the MTD department growth.
• Assist senior accountants with entries up to trial balance and potential management accounts.
• Be a team player with keen attention to detail; travel as required.

Semi Senior Accountant

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £32,000 per annum (DOE)

Butler Rose Practice is delighted to be assisting an established and highly respected accountancy practice in the recruitment of a Semi Senior Accountant to join their team in West Yorkshire.

They are looking for a Semi Senior Accountant willing to hit the ground running within our accountancy practice. The desired candidate will have responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of small businesses within our growing department, along with assisting our senior team with accounts preparation.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing a small portfolio of clients taking responsibility for the inflow and processing of information through cloud accounting software.
• Liaising with clients as and when necessary by phone and email.
• Submission of VAT returns.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise own work load and keep to deadlines.
• Assistance with the MTD department of the practice and growing thereof.
• Assisting the senior accountants of the practice with processing of entries up to trial balance along with potential production of management accounts and other accounting matters as directed.
• Be a team player with a willingness to assist and a keen attention to detail .
• Car ownership and driving license required due to the requirement for travel for collection of records as the need arises.

Personal Requirements:

• Excellent working knowledge of accounts preparation for a range of businesses including sole traders, limited companies and partnerships.
• A minimum of 3 years recent experience within a UK based, qualified firm of accountants is essential.
• Ability to prepare accounts to a high standard.
• Ability to use own initiative, to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience on cloud bookkeeping software, preferably on Sage Business Cloud, Xero, Quickbooks and Freeagent.
