Semi Senior Accountant Job Description

An accountancy firm based in Halifax is recruiting for a Semi Senior Accountant to join their established accounts team on a full-time, permanent basis. The firm has multiple offices in the area, and the successful candidate will be based primarily at the Halifax office but must be willing to commute to local clients and work from the Bradford office as needed. This position offers a great opportunity for a Semi Senior looking to advance their career or an experienced Senior seeking to manage a portfolio of clients.

Job Overview

• Production of accounts and other financial statements efficiently and profitably.
• Preparation of working papers to acceptable standards and internal systems.
• Production of accounts and financial statements using computer programs and manual systems.
• Preparing statutory accounts for Charities and other entities.
• Liaising directly with clients where applicable.
• Preparation of draft tax computations, invoices, and draft letters to clients.
• Updating internal production record systems.
• Experience with audits is advantageous but not essential.
• Attending client premises for stocktaking, including out-of-hours work as required.
• Bookkeeping and VAT return checks, including submission to HMRC.
• Training and mentoring junior team members.
• Accurate recording of time spent on work performed.
• Scheduling review meetings with the partner in charge.
• Performing ad hoc tasks to meet business needs.

Job Requirements

• AAT qualified, ACCA part-qualified, or ACCA qualified with a generous study support package available.

• Own vehicle and a valid driving license.

• At least 3 years of experience in a UK accountancy firm.

Salary & Benefits

• £32,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
• Office-based role, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00.
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service (up to 5 additional days).
