Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a patient and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a secondary setting in Liverpool. You will support students with social, emotional and mental health needs both in and out of the classroom, helping manage behaviour and foster positive relationships.

The role is initially a temporary contract with a view to permanent, starting ASAP. Competitive PAYE rates of £95-£115 per day, access to CPD, and a dedicated consultant to guide you through onboarding are on offer.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Previous experience in a school, alternative provision or similar setting.
• A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, nurturing and adaptable attitude.
• A genuine passion for supporting students who need additional encouragement.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom and help manage behaviour.
• Encourage engagement and promote positive relationships.
• Contribute to a supportive and calm learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff to support pupils' confidence and progress.
