Job summary

Academics in Maidenhead is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, with pay of £93-£110 per day.Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience, in line with the client’s pay policy.

As a SEMH TA, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, help students build confidence and emotional regulation, and work with teachers to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Confident communicating with students who may display challenging or complex behaviours.
• Interested in gaining practical experience working with SEMH before pursuing a career in psychology, education, therapy or a related field.
• Able to remain calm and consistent when supporting students through difficult situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Help students develop confidence, emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
• Support students in managing challenging emotions and behaviours in a positive and constructive way.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
