Job summary

A recruitment agency for educational roles is looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students at a secondary school in Waltham Forest. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering SEMH support and a calm, resilient approach to helping students re-engage with their education. Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEMH support across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement.
  • Implement behaviour and support plans in line with school policy.
  • Work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team and class teachers.
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and resilience.
  • Support students during lessons and unstructured times.

Skills

Experience supporting students with SEMH or challenging behaviour
Calm, resilient and consistent approach
Confidence working in a secondary school environment
Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour strategies

Education

Background in SEN support, youth work, mentoring or care
