Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across Northamptonshire schools. You will support students with SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop emotional wellbeing in a variety of settings, from mainstream to specialist SEMH environments.

Ideal candidates have SEMH experience, strong communication and empathy, and a patient, resilient approach. DBS checks are expected; Level 2/3 TA qualifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEMH needs is essential.
• Strong communication, empathy and relationship-building skills.
• Patient and resilient individual who can manage challenging situations calmly.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proactive and flexible approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
• Current DBS check (or willingness to apply).
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Assist in creating and delivering tailored learning plans.
• Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students in managing emotions and social interactions.
• Help students stay focused and engaged with learning activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement IEPs.
• Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback.
• Support students during social activities and breaks.
