Job Description:

Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Long-Term)
Location: Knowsley
Start Date: September 2024
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEMH needs by working closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Assisting in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans
  • Supporting classroom activities and maintaining a positive environment
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and behaviour
  • Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional development
  • Collaborating with staff to develop effective support strategies
  • Performing any other duties to support school operations

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with SEMH needs
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork ability
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development (a plus)
