Job summary

TeacherActive are seeking an SENM Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH across Chesterfield partner schools from September 2026, with day-to-day supply or long-term placements. You will work across SEMH settings and need experience with varied SEMH needs; you should be kind, patient, empathetic, with strong communication and a naturally caring nature.

Registration may involve enhanced DBS checks and references; TeacherActive provides a dedicated consultant team, 24/7 onboarding help,

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEMH in educational settings.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Caring, patient and understanding approach to pupil needs.
• Willingness to work across multiple SEMH settings.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH across partner schools on supply or long-term basis.
• Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and behaviour support.

Are you a passionate and experienced SENM Teaching assistant looking for a new role?

We are currently working with the excellent SEMH schools across Chesterfield to find teaching assistants to join them on day to day supply or long term roles starting from September 2026.

No two SEMH schools are the same and we need great staff who can work across all our SEMH schools and have extensive experience working with children with a variation of Social Emotional Mental Health needs.

In order to be a successful SENM TA you must:

• Have previous relevant experience working with children with SEMH.


• Be kind, patient and understanding.


• Have great communication skills.


• Have compassion and Empathy.


• Be a naturally caring person.
