Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in St Helens is seeking a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision supporting seven pupils with SEMH. The role starts on 2nd November 2026 and is full-time initially until Christmas, with a potential extension for the right candidate.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to maintain a safe, structured environment, help pupils engage with learning, and support emotional regulation using individualized strategies.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
• Recent experience working with children or young people in a UK school or similar setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

Responsabilités

• Support a small group of approximately seven pupils with SEMH needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and support staff to create a safe, structured environment.
• Assist pupils in engaging with learning and developing emotional regulation.
• Use calm, consistent behaviour management to de-escalate challenging situations.
