Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant for a welcoming SEND school in the Arboretum area of Nottingham. The role is full-time, term-time only, supporting pupils with diverse needs in a calm classroom environment.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, assist with tailored activities guided by EHCPs, and work closely with teachers and external professionals to promote safeguarding and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND (Autism, ADHD or complex needs).
• Ability to work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who have diverse needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist with learning activities guided by EHCPs.
• Promote confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Teaching Assistant:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assisting with tailored learning activities guided by EHCPs
• Promoting confidence, independence and positive behaviour
• Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals
• Helping to maintain a safe, engaging and supportive classroom environment
• Temp-to-perm opportunity available for the right person

We’d Love to Hear from You If You:

• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND (Autism, ADHD or complex needs)
• Are patient, caring and resilient
• Communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of a team
• Understand safeguarding and child protection expectations
• Have school or specialist-setting experience (desirable but not essential)
