Job summary

Reed is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs at a specialist school near Ipswich. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, helping learners overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

This position offers extensive training, small class sizes, and a supportive, therapeutic working environment with ongoing supervision and wellbeing support.

Qualifications

  • Experience or suitability in education, SEND, care, youth work, residential childcare, or similar settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patience and resilience.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and calmly.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across the school.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils.
  • Assist with SEMH and SEND needs.
  • Support with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
  • Help pupils develop social skills and confidence.
  • Manage classroom resources and learning environments.
  • Assist with educational visits and enrichment activities.

Location: Near Ipswich, Suffolk (Approx. 15 minutes from Ipswich Town Centre) Salary: £26,403 per annum Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

We're seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional SEND requirements, including Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

The Role

No two days are the same. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Supporting teaching and learning across the school
  • Working 1:1 and with small groups of pupils
  • Supporting children with SEMH and additional SEND needs
  • Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils develop social skills and confidence
  • Managing classroom resources and learning environments
  • Supporting educational visits and enrichment activities
