Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support TA for a Derby City secondary school. The role runs September to the academic year, 8:30am–3:00pm, term-time only, supporting KS3/KS4 pupils with SEMH needs and behaviour management.

The candidate will provide 1:1 and small-group emotional support, implement behaviour plans, and uphold safeguarding. Experience with SEMH/SEN and a current Enhanced DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

• SEMH/SEN/PRU or alternative provision experience.
• Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
• Right to work in the UK.

Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

About the Role
An inclusive SEMH secondary school in Derby City is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support TA from February 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning.
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across KS3 and 4

The Ideal Candidate
