Aspire People is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH across KS2, KS3 and KS4 in Hemel Hempstead. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm, across two sites where reliable transport is essential.

You will work with experienced staff to help students engage with education, develop confidence and emotional wellbeing, providing one-to-one and small-group support and promoting positive behaviour.

Qualifications

  • Attitude, patience and resilience to support young people.
  • Transferable experience from education, youth work, sports coaching, care or mentoring.
  • Previous SEN or SEMH experience is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH across KS2, KS3 and KS4.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support when needed.
  • Support learning and classroom engagement.
  • Help pupils manage emotions and challenging situations.
  • Promote positive behaviour and boundaries.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and work with the school team.

SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Age Groups: KS2, KS3 & KS4
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm
Contract: Full-time
Sites: Two locations - reliable transport required
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across KS2, KS3 and KS4 in Hemel Hempstead.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a genuine passion for supporting young people and wants to make a positive difference within a specialist SEMH environment.

The Role

You will support pupils across different key stages, working alongside experienced teaching staff to help students engage with education and develop their confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.

The role will involve
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs across KS2, KS3 and KS4.
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
  • Supporting learning and classroom engagement.
  • Helping pupils manage emotions and challenging situations.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and appropriate boundaries.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence and independence.
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team.
  • Adapting your approach to meet individual pupil needs.
About You

We are looking for someone with the right attitude, patience and resilience who genuinely wants to support young people.

Previous SEN or SEMH experience is desirable, but not absolutely necessary. We are also interested in candidates who have transferable skills from areas such as education, youth work, sports coaching, care, residential settings, mentoring or other people-focused environments.

You will need to be:

  • Resilient when faced with challenging situations.
  • Confident building relationships with young people.
  • Able to remain professional and composed.
  • A good communicator and team player.
  • Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers.
  • Willing to learn and develop within an SEMH setting.

Please note: reliable access to transport is essential as the role involves working across two sites in Hemel Hempstead.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm.
