SEMH Teacher - Southampton (Start: September 2025)

Are you a passionate, resilient, and empathetic teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

A specialist provision in Southampton is seeking a committed and experienced SEMH Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive environment where every day brings the chance to help students thrive.

Location: Southampton
Start Date: September 2025
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Key Stages: (KS2 / KS3 / KS4 - specify depending on role)
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)

You will be teaching small groups of students with SEMH needs, using creative and tailored approaches to engage and inspire. Working alongside a dedicated pastoral and therapeutic team, your role will be central to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve both academic and personal growth.

  • Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum adapted to individual needs

  • Create a nurturing, structured, and positive learning environment

  • Manage challenging behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches

  • Collaborate with support staff, parents, and external professionals

  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)

  • Experience working with students with SEMH or in an alternative provision setting

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A proactive, flexible, and compassionate approach

  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
