Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an SEN school in the Tamworth area on a long-term, full-time basis. The successful candidate will support a child with SEMH needs, provide nurturing support and work closely with teachers and the wider school team.

Applicants should have substantial experience with SEMH, hold a relevant TA/Childcare/education qualification, and demonstrate strong behaviour management.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
• Holding a TA/Childcare/Education qualification or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrates strong behaviour management and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Support a child with SEMH needs within an SEN school environment.

Smile Education are recruiting! Smile Education are currently looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of their supportive SEN schools in the Tamworth area on a long-term, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant who has a strong understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and can build positive, trusting relationships with children who may present with challenging behaviours.

The Role

• Supporting a child with identified SEMH needs within an SEN school environment
• Providing consistent, positive and nurturing support throughout the school day
• Working closely with teaching staff and the wider school team
• Supporting the child's emotional regulation, engagement and learning
• Using effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Have considerable experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
• Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Education or equivalent qualification
• Have strong behaviour management skills and confidence supporting challenging behaviour
• Be patient, resilient and consistent in their approach
• Be able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
• Be able to provide references that specifically comment on their experience and interaction with children with SEMH needs
• Be committed to the role on a long-term, full-time basis
• Work effectively as part of a wider school and support team
