Job summary

Newbury College is seeking an SEMH Support Coach to provide individualised support helping students access learning and overcome barriers. You will work with students under EHCP and Support Plans across classrooms and activities, contributing to attendance, progress reviews and inclusive college life.

The role involves literacy/numeracy support, note‑taking assistance, and adapting learning materials, with a focus on developing confidence and independence for each learner.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting learners with learning difficulties, disabilities or additional needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with learners.
• Patient, approachable and able to use initiative in challenging situations.
• Adaptable and responsive to learners' individual needs and timetable changes.
• Committed to helping learners develop confidence and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised SEMH support to students to access learning and participate in lessons and activities.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality, contribute to reviews, and record progress toward EHCP outcomes.
• Support students with note‑taking, literacy and numeracy, and adapting learning materials as needed.
• Assist with broader college life, enrichment activities, and pastoral support.
