Job summary

Think FE Ltd is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant for a further education college in Northamptonshire. The role focuses on supporting learners with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning, build confidence and manage challenges in college.

The position involves providing individual and small-group support, assisting with behaviour management and contributing to support plans and EHCP records.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people in education, SEND support, youth work, care, mentoring or residential support.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships and motivate learners.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies.
• Good record-keeping and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Experience supporting SEMH needs and contributing to behaviour plans or EHCP records is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support tailored to learner needs.
• Support behaviour management and use de-escalation strategies.
• Contribute to behaviour support plans and maintain EHCP support records.
• Mentor and motivate learners, monitoring attendance and progress.
• Prepare learning resources and work closely with teaching staff.
