Job summary

Newbury College, Inc. is seeking a caring SEMH Support Coach to help students access learning and overcome barriers.

You will work with students under EHCP and individual Support Plans, providing support across classroom sessions, practical lessons, activities outside the classroom and off-site experiences. You will support literacy and numeracy, note-taking and adapting learning materials, and help students engage with pastoral and safeguarding support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with learning difficulties, disabilities or additional needs.
• Strong communicator who can build positive relationships with diverse learners.
• Patient and approachable, able to use initiative in challenging situations.
• Adaptable to timetable changes and individual needs.
• Committed to developing learners confidence and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised SEMH support in classroom sessions, practical lessons, activities outside the classroom and off-site experiences.
• Support literacy and numeracy, note-taking and adapting learning materials.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality; contribute to annual reviews and progression reviews.
• Record progress towards EHCP outcomes and support plans.
• Support enrichment activities and wider college life within a supportive team.
