Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is assisting a local school in Runcorn to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs aged 5 to 18 in a safe, inclusive environment.

You will aid teachers during lessons, mentor small groups, report on progress, and supervise pupils during non-class times. The role emphasizes wellbeing, strong relationships, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, especially with SEMH needs.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and supporting individual pupils or small groups (up to six).
  • Assisting classroom teachers during lessons and activities.
  • Reporting on pupils’ progress and liaising with staff to meet needs.
  • Supervising pupils during non-classroom times, including trips.
  • Supporting lesson planning, preparation, and marking.
  • Building positive relationships to promote engagement and learning.
  • Taking additional responsibility during lunchtime, trips, or activities.
