GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Scunthorpe supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting students who may have experienced trauma, face behavioural challenges, or require emotional support to succeed in their education.
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Supporting classroom management and promoting positive behaviour strategies
Building trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional development
Assisting with individualised learning programmes and behaviour support plans
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school, youth work, or care background welcome)
A calm, empathetic, and confident approach to challenging situations
Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and trauma-informed practice
A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply through GSL Education
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
