Job description


TimePlan Education is currently recruiting for a qualified and passionate Science Teacher to join a highly supportive team at a specialist school for boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is dedicated to supporting students' emotional well-being alongside their academic progress, creating a nurturing and structured environment for all learners.

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated educator who can tailor lessons to meet individual needs, promote emotional resilience, and foster a love of learning in their students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and accessible science lessons, using innovative teaching methods to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm.

  • Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH and additional learning needs.

  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment that prioritises students' emotional and mental well-being.

  • Promote emotional regulation, self-confidence, and positive behaviour through consistent routines and strong relationships.

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff.

  • Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers to support each student's progress.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - Primary or Secondary specialism welcomed.

  • Have experience teaching students with a range of special educational needs, particularly SEMH.

  • Be confident in delivering science across KS3 (and possibly KS4), adapting content as needed.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and behaviour support strategies.

  • Be resilient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.

  • Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
