Job description

Job Title: Long Term Maths Teacher / Teacher of Maths or SEMH Teacher (MPS or UPS)

Where:

Alternative Provision, London Borough of Greenwich

Type:

Monday to Friday

Daily Rate:

£160 - £250 a day (depending on experience)

Thriving and innovative Alternative Provision setting in the London Borough of Greenwich is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Maths Teacher / Teacher of Maths or SEMH Teacher. This is a full-time and ongoing position to start immediately.

The successful teacher must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

This Monday to Friday position involves teaching Maths to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), focusing on Key Stage 3 (KS3) up to GCSE level. The teacher will deliver high-quality lessons in small classes, manage challenging behaviours, and support individual educational needs. Class sizes are small, typically up to 6 students, supported by at least 3 1:1 Behaviour TAs.

Essential Requirements:
  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  2. Experience teaching the UK Curriculum - Maths at KS3 up to GCSE
  3. Experience in Alternative Provision, SEMH Schools, PRUs, or Mainstream Secondary Schools
  4. Experience working with SEMH and ASD students
  5. Strong behaviour management skills
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to create an engaging learning environment
  8. Experience in planning and delivering differentiated Maths lessons
  9. Developing and implementing IEPs
  10. Using varied teaching strategies for behavioural challenges
  11. Assessing and monitoring student progress
  12. Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe environment
  13. Collaborating with staff
  14. Managing classroom behaviour effectively
  15. Participating in professional development
  16. Maintaining accurate records
  17. Residency within easy commuting distance to Greenwich
