Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) for a secondary school in Southampton. The role runs 8:15am–3:30pm, with options for full-time or four days per week, starting as soon as possible.

Initial contract via Teaching Personnel with potential for a permanent school contract after probation. Applicants should have prior experience with children or young people who have additional needs and a passion for supporting SEMH learners in a therapeutic setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with additional needs, especially SEMH.
• Ability to work 1:1 and in small groups.
• Experience applying trauma-informed approaches in education.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs in 1:1 and small-group settings.
• Implement therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help create a safe, emotionally supportive learning environment.
